Two weeks of work in L.A. done…
Two more weeks to go…
I love it though. Too much to learn! Better to be busy than bored!
Anyway, while anime has been one of my primary assistants in killing time these past few weeks… I did not have many reflections…
I WILL say, Food Wars has proven that just about anything can be made into a “shonen” lol
I went through it over the last few weeks. It actually convinced me to try some gourmet foods that were spicy to try and open up my horizons… holy crap, I HATE spicy food lololol. I don’t get why someone would WANT to be in pain… pain and spiciness is NOT a flavor, it’s an unpleasant sensation. While spice does have flavor, it’s at the extremely violent cost of having my taste buds so seared by the chemical volatility transpiring on my tongue that I can’t taste ANY of the food, let alone the spice’s flavor.
The only thing left to appreciate is chaos…
So the premise of Food Wars is reliant on the idea that these “gourmands” appreciate food in all it’s forms… if I were the judge of a shokugeki I’d probably choose the Taco Bell frito burrito over a… spice covered, blah blah, something something, umami food orgasm… bleh.
BUT IT MAKES FOR GREAT ENTERTAINMENT AND INSPIRED ME TO ENJOY A DISH OF FOOD THAT RUINED MY AFTERNOON!
The dish was just, SINISTER.
I guess I encourage all to emulate the shows we watch in the most healthy and functional and realistic and appropriate way possible…
If an anime inspires you to try a dish of food that burns through your stomach lining like a corrosive acid… go for it…
If anime makes you want to start exercising or try a new sport *COUGH COUGH BABY STEPS COUGH COUGH*
Then DO IT.
IF AN ANIME MAKES YOU WANT TO STAND UP TO RUDE PEOPLE AND DEFEND THOSE THAT LACK THE SPIRIT AND CONFIDENCE TO STAND UP FOR THEMSELVES *cough cough I’M LOOKING AT YOU MUMEN RIDER!!*
Then stand up for other people.
Because of anime I have eaten weird food I hate, played a sport I had no experience in, and stood up to a rude customer that was threatening a worker and compelled them to desist(through penal code 835, 837, and 415 as my legal defense in case he tried to sue me LOL) while everyone else looked at the ground, took out a cell phone, or prayed for the awkward moment to go away.
Find your inspirations and muses where ever you can and when ever you can.
I know a lot of folks would NEVER find a hero in their entertainment or anime or video games… because it’s NOT real… but to hell with that I say! There are some great role models out there. Whenever I find myself in a hardship, Guts from Berserk always runs through my mind… if he can overcome HIS obstacles then so can I, I can keep fighting and muddle through…
I WANT to be a hero(JEEZE THAT SOUNDS EMBARRASSING LOL), I WANT to stand up for my ideals and never waver or give up or settle or let myself fail. So instead of WANTING, I’ll do what Saitama does… and just DO IT.
HOWEVER, that said, I wouldn’t recommend doing 10,000 push ups a day, or killing human beings with a giant sword, or even intentionally putting yourself in a situation with a high likelihood of death or injury… but I WOULD recommend being optimistic, hard working, and hopeful… and anime has heroes like that in STRIDES. So go be a hero and eat food that you’ll immediately regret.
I can’t be the only one who looks up to their animated heroes and tries to emulate their best qualities, RIGHT?…
Welp!
Until next time!

P.S. DIDN’T ALL THAT FOOD LOOK AMAZING!!?? JEEZE I’M SO HUNGRY NOW!
The food did look amazing. And I’ll admit, Haikyuu almost made me want to play volleyball (fortunately the moment passed and common sense over my general lack of coordination and sense of self-preservation kicked in).

Lol, same here, but I was so fired up after Baby Steps that I had to give tennis a shot. Not so much with volleyball…

Spicy food is something you need to work up to… Can’t just leap into the deep end.
