Life.
It leads you down all sorts of paths, where you get lost, meander, distracted, pursue a goal this direction, pursue a passion that direction, and all along you are accompanied by the inevitable ups and downs of said life.
All that to say… ANIME SUNDAY IS BACK BABY! I AM GETTING MY MONEY’S WORTH PAYING FOR THIS DEAD HUSK OF A WEBSITE TODAY!
At least for this post LOL.
Gotta follow the passion. I haven’t felt compelled to write up a post here since finding out they were going to try and complete Miura’s vision with Berserk, but now DanDaDan has pulled me back.
But before gushing about DanDaDan I would be remiss if I didn’t cover at least a couple anime oriented topics of interest…
In the past two plus years that I have been neglecting this site:
-Toriyama passed away (the last chapter I read of the manga where Goku is saying that the world will be okay without him because Gohan and others are ready to take on the mantle and got stronger… just felt poetic, with Goku serving as a spiritual good-bye and stand-in for Toriyama. Just hit me in the soul.)

-Godzilla Minus One came out (anime adjacent) which I saw in theaters with my daughter and was a blast!
-I somehow missed the Haikyuu movie, and all plans to see it fell through but I can’t wait to watch that latests movie!
-The Boy and the Herron from Miyazaki came out, I saw it in theaters and it was a darn good time. BUT, I did enjoy it less (not that it is a competition!) than a good many of his other films. It did not resonate with me as Princess Mononoke, Nausicaa, Spirited Away, and many other of his movies have, least of all Wind Rises. Wind Rises is the ultimate swan song, that movie has the “cosmic”, existential, time passing, almost nostalgic quality that made it one of my favorites with outstanding characterization.
-Shinkai’s Suzume came out, and while it did not compel me in the way that some of his other movies have, it was another darned good time, with some great “cosmic” moments.
-Spy X Family movie came out which I saw in theaters with my wife who got the collectible cup 😀
-My Hero Academia manga ended, but show is going strong.
-Jujutsu Kaisen’s manga is nearly at the finish line with the latest season of the anime having ended as well.
That is just the stuff that jumps out at me as the big highlights, but so much has transpired in the anime/manga sphere. Despite the madness of life, I have kept the torch lit, and I still watch at least a show or two per season, in addition to following my manga.
Shows have come out like:
Frieren – 11/10 cosmic, existential, outstanding characters, top notch writing, compelling story just… top tier entertainment and an instant classic and favorite. ‘Nuff said.
To Your Eternity Season 2 was super entertaining, and ended on one of the most mind blowing cliffhanger ever.
Delicious in Dungeon (it probably helped that I got really into Dungeons and Dragons (DnD) with my best buddies that last 2-3 years) which became one of my favorite anime, I just adored the characters, I loved the formula, but also how they subverted expectations really well on several occasions and had EXCEEDINGLY dark moments you wouldn’t expect!
Seasons of Demon Slayer (I CAN’T WAIT FOR THE NEXT 3 FILMS!!!!)
Seasons of My Hero Academia
Spice and Wolf, which the remake is actively coming out and was worth the… 13+ years wait? from when I watched the original anime as a young lad. I have been loving it!
Jujutsu Kaisen
Spy X Family
Kaijuu No. 8 which I have been reading the manga since chapter 1, and the anime was an action packed hoot as well!
Dr. Stone
Solo Leveling
Chainsaw Man
Suffice to say, there has been some top tier anime the last couple years!
Which finally leads back to the title of the post.
DanDaDan!
On a whim, I began reading the manga about 15 days ago, and like any new and young love, I fell hard and fast. “I am an awkward fellow after all” 😉 The art is spectacular, the writing is top notch, the comedy has me laughing out loud, the characters are relatable, lovable, and interesting with good chemistry between everyone. The manga is about as good a romantic comedy, action thriller, spooky paranormal entertainment medium as anyone could ask for.
And what a time to suddenly become a fan! I dodged a hiatus in the manga, and also found out a movie with the first 3 episodes was coming out this Friday ahead of the October release dates. I discovered this two days ago and immediately bought tickets and will be seeing the premier at ~7PM this Friday (the 13th, WOOOO SPOOOOKY!!!!) with my wife! Lucky lucky lucky me!
I can’t wait to be surrounded by my people (nerds!), hooting and hollering when the action starts up, squeeing and awww-ing when the romantic comedy antics play out, and laughing together when the comedic parts hit. Nothing beats sharing an experience like this with fellow fans.
Anyways, I hope y’all have been doing well, enjoying this golden age of manga and anime, and that life is good. If you are a DanDaDan fan get out and watch it on the big screen!
Welp, Until next time! (which could be years)
